When it comes to flammable substances it is not actually the liquid that burns but the vapor from the liquid.
Under the circumstances of a flammable vapor catching on fire, water should not be used to put out the fire because
it may only cause the fire to spread. When dealing with a small fire caused by flammable vapors is to
smother the fire by a towel, or a class B fire extinguisher, flour, or a lid of some kind.
